"EPFO ₹15,000 incentive eligibility" is trending because the government's jobs scheme pays new employees and their employers directly. If you run a shop or small unit and are hiring this festive season, you may be leaving money on the table.
Key takeaway: A first-time EPFO member earning up to ₹1 lakh a month gets up to ₹15,000 (one month's EPF wage) in two instalments. The employer gets up to ₹3,000 a month per additional employee for two years. Jobs must be created between 1 August 2025 and 31 July 2027.

Example: a shop with 8 staff
A garment shop with 8 employees hires 2 new salespeople at an EPF wage of ₹15,000 each in November 2026 and keeps them for two years.
| Who | Benefit | Total |
|---|---|---|

| Each new employee (if first EPFO job) | One month's EPF wage, two instalments | up to ₹15,000 |
Before you claim: pitfalls
- Hiring someone who already had a UAN with contributions — they are not "first-time" for Part A (the employer can still count them as additional if the headcount rises).
- Not activating the employee's UAN and seeding Aadhaar to their bank account — DBT fails.
- Late or missing monthly ECR (EPF return) filing — incentives follow the filings.
- Shops under 20 employees not registered with EPFO. Registration is voluntary below 20, but without it there is no incentive.
Playbook for employers
- Check your EPFO registration; if you have fewer than 20 staff and are not registered, discuss voluntary coverage with your CA.
- Count your current EPF headcount — the incentive is for additional employees above this baseline.
- On hiring, generate a UAN for first-time employees and help them activate it with Aadhaar.
- Pay wages through the bank and file the ECR every month by the 15th.
- Track each new hire's joining date: the 6-month and 12-month marks decide the payouts.
Keep staff and wage records in DAM
Steps use DAM's in-app search (Staff & Wages).
- Open Search and type Staff & Wages (add staff, attendance, salaries and payslips).
- Tap Add Staff and enter each employee with their joining date and salary.
- Mark attendance and generate payslips monthly, so EPF wages and service months are on record when you claim.
