India's biggest-ever IPO closed on 23 October 2026, and lakhs of applicants now want one answer: did I get Jio shares? Here is how to check, what happens to your money if you did not, and how much tax you pay if you sell on listing day.
Key takeaway: Allotment is expected on 26 October; check it on the registrar KFin Technologies, BSE or NSE using your PAN. Refunds and demat credit follow on 27 October, and shares list on 28 October 2026. Retail was subscribed about 2.72 times, so not every applicant gets shares.

| Retail maximum | 14 lots (168 shares, about ₹1,87,992) |
| Bidding | 21 – 23 October 2026 |
| Basis of allotment | 26 October 2026 (tentative) |
| Refunds / UPI mandate release | 27 October 2026 |
| Shares credited to demat | 27 October 2026 |

How many times was it subscribed?
At the close on 23 October, the issue was subscribed about 22.19 times overall:
| Category | Subscribed (times) |
|---|---|
| Qualified institutional buyers (QIB) | 70.55× |
| Non-institutional investors (NII) | 14.00× |
| Shareholders quota | 7.60× |
| Employees | 2.93× |
| Retail individual investors | 2.72× |
When retail is oversubscribed, SEBI rules say the registrar allots one lot each to as many retail applicants as possible by a computerised lottery. Applying for more lots does not improve your chance; applying from separate family PANs does.
How to check Jio IPO allotment status
Option 1: KFin Technologies (registrar)
- Open ipostatus.kfintech.com.
- Select Jio Platforms Limited from the IPO list.
- Choose PAN, application number or demat account, and enter it.
- Fill the captcha and submit. You will see shares applied and shares allotted.
Option 2: BSE — go to the BSE "Status of Issue Application" page, choose Equity, select Jio Platforms, enter your PAN or application number.
Option 3: NSE — use NSE's IPO bid verification page, select the symbol, and enter your PAN and application number.
Your broker app (and the bank where you applied) will also show the status once the registrar publishes it, usually by the evening of the allotment date.
Not allotted? What happens to your money
- If you applied by UPI, the blocked amount is released from your bank account — expected on 27 October.
- If you applied through ASBA net banking, the bank unblocks the amount on the same date.
- No refund "arrives" — the money never left your account, it was only blocked. Check your bank statement for the unblock entry.
- If it is still blocked after the mandate end date, raise a complaint with your bank and the registrar.
Selling on listing day: tax on your gains
Shares sold within 12 months are short-term capital gains. On listed shares, short-term gains are taxed at 20%, and long-term gains (after 12 months) at 12.5% above ₹1.25 lakh a year.
| Example: 12 shares bought at ₹1,119 | Amount |
|---|---|
| Cost (₹1,119 × 12) | ₹13,428 |
| Sold on listing at, say, ₹1,300 (× 12) | ₹15,600 |
| Short-term gain | ₹2,172 |
| Tax at 20% (plus cess) | about ₹434 + cess |
The listing price above is only an illustration; nobody knows the real listing price in advance. Brokerage, STT and exchange charges also apply. Grey market premium (GMP) figures quoted online are unofficial and not a guarantee.
Listing-day checklist
