Print Bills from Your Phone: Bluetooth Thermal Printer Guide

You do not always need a computer at the counter to give a customer a paper bill. With a compatible phone, billing app and thermal printer, you can print receipts from your mobile. The important word is compatible: test the exact setup before buying it.

This guide explains what to check and how DAM's printing settings work. Available printing options can vary with your installed app version and device.

Choose the printer around the bills your customers need. Pair it, select the correct roll size and print a test receipt before committing.

Which receipt size suits your shop?

58 mm rolls are useful for compact receipts and portable printers. They have less room for item names and columns. 80 mm rolls offer more width for counter bills. DAM also offers 112 mm roll layouts and A4/A5 sheet layouts.

A larger paper setting cannot make a narrow printer wider. Match the app's setting to the actual roll and printer. For a detailed business invoice, check whether a PDF or A4 print is clearer than a compact receipt.

Before buying a printer

Ask the seller to demonstrate your phone and DAM together. Check the connection type: a printer advertised as thermal may use USB or Wi-Fi rather than the Bluetooth mode you need. Confirm paper width, power supply and Android compatibility. Do not assume every Bluetooth printer is supported.

Print an example with your longest product name, a discount if you use one, and the business details customers need. Check readability, line wrapping and the final total. A sample containing only a short item name will not reveal every layout problem.

Connect and test in DAM

  1. Pair the printer with your phone using the device's Bluetooth settings.
  2. In DAM's search, type Printer and open the screen. It lists Paired Bluetooth printers. Find your printer and select Use.
  3. Use Print test slip to check the connection, or Preview a sample receipt / KOT to inspect a sample layout.
  4. Search Printer Settings. Match the paper size, select Bluetooth thermal / KOT printer and check Copies. If none is selected, use Choose Bluetooth printer.
  5. Enable Show "Print" in PDF options if you want printing available from that flow. Open an invoice's PDF options and test a real bill before serving customers.

Start with one copy. Enable Auto-cut paper only when your printer has a cutter, and Open cash drawer only when the hardware supports it. Settings do not add hardware that the printer does not have.

If the print does not look right

Avoid buying another printer before checking settings. If you contact support, include the printer model, phone model, app version and paper width. A description such as "not printing" is much harder to troubleshoot.

Questions shop owners ask

Can I use A4 paper with a small Bluetooth receipt printer?

No. A4 is a sheet layout; receipt printers use supported roll widths. DAM separates roll printing from the phone's system/PDF printing flow.

Do I need a printer to use DAM?

Only if your workflow needs paper bills. You can evaluate invoice PDFs first.

Will the setup work without internet?

Bluetooth connects the phone and printer locally. That alone does not establish whether every billing, saving or syncing step works offline. Test the complete workflow and confirm supported behavior with DAM support.
