GST Billing Software: Compare Features and the Real Cost

Two billing apps can show a low monthly price and still cost your shop different amounts. One includes the work you need; another may require a higher plan for staff, messages or multiple businesses. Before comparing prices, compare your actual use.

This guide is about choosing software, not deciding your GST obligations. Ask your accountant to confirm your registration, tax rates and invoice requirements.

Compare the plan that covers your work, including usage limits and renewal cost. Do not compare the headline price alone.

What should a GST billing app help you do?

You should be able to keep your business and customer details organized, select the appropriate invoice type, enter items with the correct tax information and review the result before sharing it. The app should also make it easy to find an old invoice when a customer or accountant asks.

Tax software cannot correct every bad input. A wrong rate, party state or opening balance can still create a wrong record. A useful app makes these details visible enough for you to check.

Count the work your shop does in a month

Write down roughly how many invoices you create, how many bills you send on WhatsApp, whether staff need access, and whether you use e-way bills or e-invoices. Check those needs against each plan. Do not assume that you need an e-invoice just because the feature is available; eligibility depends on current rules.

For example, creating 200 sales invoices and sending 200 WhatsApp messages are different activities. A plan could include unlimited sales invoices but only a limited number of messages. Ask what happens after you use the included allowance.

DAM's currently advertised monthly plans

The DAM website lists Basic at ₹49, Silver at ₹99, Gold at ₹149 and Platinum at ₹199 per month. It also advertises one month of Gold free for new accounts. These are the website's advertised prices checked on 1 October 2026; confirm the current price, taxes, renewal terms and entitlements inside the app before buying.

Basic is positioned for a single shop's billing, inventory and ledgers. Silver adds staff logins and permissions. Gold adds an online store and up to three businesses. The site lists higher usage allowances at higher tiers. Choose based on what you use, rather than treating every upgrade as necessary.

Test one invoice before moving your records

In DAM's search, type New Sale. The sales screen includes Invoice Type, Date and Invoice No. Use your real shop details and a sample item whose tax treatment your accountant has confirmed. Check the invoice, then use Sales Invoices to find it again.

Ask your accountant to review a sample PDF. Confirm that business details, item values and tax information appear as expected. Also test a purchase entry and a partial customer payment if those are part of your everyday work.

If you only need an occasional PDF, try the website's free invoice generator first. If you need ongoing stock and party balances, evaluate the full app. A free online tool and a shop management subscription serve different needs.

Before you pay, ask these questions

Questions shop owners ask

Is DAM free forever?

The currently advertised offer is one month of Gold free for new accounts. It should not be read as permanent free access to the full app.

Do I need the highest plan for ordinary billing?

Not automatically. Match billing, staff and usage needs to the current plan entitlements before selecting a tier.

Does software guarantee GST compliance?

No. Correct business details, tax treatment and timely review still matter. Confirm current requirements with your accountant and the official GST portal.
